JUDGMENT BY WORKS

It also cannot be denied that (some) men will be judged by their works. Is this not in direct conflict with Salvation by Faith?

The following verses require good works for salvation. Judgment by works is also unequivocal.

And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life? And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments. He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet? Jesus said unto him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell that thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me. Matthew 19:16-21

If there were no judgment based on works, why did Jesus say this? Did he lie? Withhold truth? Why didn't he say simply "believe"? or he could have said "Have the faith of Yahweh"? The Master knew that this young man (unlike the thief on the cross) did NOT have the faith of Yahweh, so HIS only path to eternal life was through good works (obeying the law). Besides, he asked "what good thing must I do".

Ask the wrong question and you get the wrong answer. There is no way any of us can be saved by doing "good things" (but this was the question asked) and the young man believed that he was "good". To illustrate to the young man that he wasn't "good" (as none of us are, only God) Jesus told him to sell all that he had and give it to the poor. Is that required of us? Only if we're trying to obtain salvation by good works instead of faith.

The ministry of Yahushua [Jesus, the Messiah] taught very clearly that there are two, opposite paths to salvation. There is an easy way and a hard way. An inferior way [works - as told to the young man] and a better way [faith - as promised to the thief]. Choose the path you prefer, both lead to salvation.

Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear Elohim, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man. For Elohim shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil. Ecclesiastes 12:13-14

And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear: 1 Peter 1:17

But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. Matthew 12:36

What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one Elohim; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? James 2:14-20

Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is. If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire. 1 Corinthians 3:13-15

For we must ALL appear before the judgment seat of the Messiah; that every one may receive the things done in his body, according to that he hath done, whether it be good or bad. 2 Corinthians 5:10

Who will render to every man according to his deeds: Romans 2:6

For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; (For not the hearers of the law are just before יהוה [Yahweh, our god], but the doers of the law shall be justified. Romans 2:12-13

Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Sovereign יהוה [Yahweh]. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin. Ezekiel 18:30

According to their deeds, accordingly he will repay, fury to his adversaries, recompence to his enemies; to the islands he will repay recompence. Isaiah 59:18
